3rd Annual Paint the 1/4 Pink

The 3rd Annual Paint The Quarter Pink all female breast cancer awareness charity motorcycle drag race came as a force to be reckoned with at Maryland International Raceway in Budds Creek, MD.
Fifteen ladies came from as far north as New Jersey and as far south as Florida to participate. As always, the competition was fun and fierce under blue sunny skies with temperatures in the low 90s. A bit warm, but still proving to be ideal conditions for a great racing.

Making the 16+ hour trip from Tampa, Florida was breast cancer survivor Lea “Dream Catcher Martinez” who unfortunately did not place as well as she hoped for, however she was far from upset. “This race is about more than placement for me”, says Lea. “As a survivor, for me it’s about helping to raise awareness and support for this potentially devastating cancer” she gratefully continued. She also used this race to proudly show off and unveil her new breast cancer awareness custom Suzuki Hayabusa dragbike by industry pros Garwood Custom Cycles out of Lexington, North Carolina.

The final races came down to two of the fastest laides in the group, Kelly Clontz and Julie Lucas with the win light going to last year’s runner up Kelly Clontz. Julie Lucas let all in attendance know that she too is beast on 2 wheels and had a great time supporting this worthy cause.

Thanks to race coordinator Daryle Sykes, MIR’s Events Director Jason Miller, Deuce Brand watches and Kawasaki for coming on board to support a worthy cause with proceeds going to the very worthy and deserving Bikers Against Breast Cancer charity.
