2017 Iron Elite Festival in Washington DC-FINAL
Harley-Davidson of Washington, DC (HDDC) hosted their 2017 Iron Elite festival in grand style. For those unaware, Iron Elite is the outreach initiative launched by Harley-Davidson (H-D) in 2010 to recognize the contributions and roles African-American’s have played throughout the motorcycle community by showcasing their rich history and inspiring stories.
This year’s HDDC Iron Elite festival was bigger than ever with the addition of Bagger Boyz and Joey Hensley Back Yard Baggers. Bagger Boyz kicked off the festivities Friday night with the official Meet-n-Greet and Listening Party. Although rain was in the forecast and light showers persisted, riders came out in droves to talk shop and grudge battle with some of the top audio people in town. Adding to the festive vibe was a fish fry, sound cypher and a plethora of vendors onsite such as Outsider Leatherwork with their fine assortment of custom leather goods, pinstriping by Smitty’s Pinstriping LLC, Cigars 210 for all the cigar lovers and the SnapOn truck with great promotions for all in attendance.
The weather cleared for the main event on Saturday back to HDDC providing the perfect setting for live music from the Vybe Band, vendors, tiki bar, food trucks, H-D Demo truck for participants to test out the latest model line-up, a sound competition hosted by Bagger Boyz along with Back Yard Baggers, a custom bike and car show, workshops, seminars and more. Commemorating the event was the collector’s edition 2017 Iron Elite patch and T-shirt which flew off the shelves.
This fun family friendly event is surely one I hope continues with growing support for years to come.
