What do you get when you take one part DC nightlife scenery, stir in approximately 100 sportbikes and skillfully mix together by one of the DMV’s most talented photo-journalists? You get an award winning photo shoot (more on this later) called the “DC Motobomb” from Insana Collins.

With the goal of capturing and representing the bike scene a’la DC style, Ms. Collins mentioned the concept to few friends for a small photo shot in our Nation’s Capital. Once the word went out about the shoot, approximately 100 riders consisting of SIN MC, Platinum Rollers, Organized K’OS, Millennium Sportbike Riders (MSR), Gunrunnerz, Straight Riders as well as independent riders throughout the DMV showed up to the areas largest bike night, Platinum Rollers’ Wednesday bike night at TGIFridays in Greenbelt, MD.

The night was filled with an eclectic energy as melodic tunes from Vance & Hines, Two Brothers, Akrapovic and other exhausts notes permeated the air providing the musical score to what would be an award winning shoot. With support from others as fellow rider, photographer, videographer and go-getter Adrian “Aboogie” McQueen, the night included stops at DC landmarks as National Park and Chinatown. With everyone enjoying a spirited ride from location to location with a shared camaraderie of getting out on 2s on a warm summers night, the cliché  “fun was had by all” certainly applied. All of which was zenfully captured earning her a coveted win out of 547 entries in the Exposed DC photo contest.

Insana’s Motobomb shoot will be featured in the 8th Annual Exposed DC Exhibit through April 6th at the Long View Gallery in NW DC along with the other winners. Although this thrill loving photojournalist narrowly missed one of the Best-in-Show awards sponsored by my alma-mater, the Corcoran College of Art + Design she remains humbled as one of the selected overall winners.

The bar has been raised for other city Motobombs Philly, Jersey, Miami, Texas, LA, and Atlanta. North and South Carolina, what say you?

Will there be a DC Motobomb part deux? Let’s just say, locations have been scouted and we strongly suggest you follow her on Twitter and InstaGram @InsanaC for updates. To see samples of her phenomenal work visit her site insanacollins.com.
