Looking Ahead Beyond the Graduation

hat toss

In recognition of the upcoming commencement ceremonies, I decided to take the time to “CONGRATULATE” our 2013 graduates for a job well done!

We all have children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, God children or friend’s children who are set to graduate this year. I too have a niece and two nephews graduating from High School. Whether from pre-K to College, graduating from any school or at any age is a proud moment in a child’s life as well as the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. We share in this unforgettable moment by sitting back and reminiscing about our own graduation many moons ago. This is the time when we pat ourselves on the back for the tough love, parenting, prayer, nurturing, guidance, patience and protection that we gave our children to get them to this momentous milestone in their lives. We can only hope that our children are grateful for our struggles through the years and, will continue to make us proud.

Unfortunately, the roads after graduation take many turns. Some roads are straight, winding, bumpy and hilly. Other roads possess clarity and uncertainty. The question that we pose to our children is “what road are you going to take”? In most cases, the honest answer is “I don’t know.” This is why our “think I’m grown-up” children still need us to guide them and to put them on the right track. Even with a diploma in their hand and a degree under their belt, our graduates are still unaware of life lessons to come.
Graduates, in life your attitude will determine your altitude. Continue to strive and reach for the stars. Be all that you can be! As you take this journey through life, always pray and put GOD first because all things are possible through him who strengthens you. Remember along your path, be a blessing to others and blessings will come back to you abundantly.

The hearts of many family and friends are filled with pride and happiness during this special occasion. Congratulations and best of luck to all our graduates for their life ahead.
Graduates, now it’s time to turn the tassel and look forward to a successful road ahead!

Peace and Blessings,
