2013 Manufacturers Cup – Virginia Motorsport Park

Mother nature once again hasn’t been too kind to racing events this season. What was predicted to be a great weekend of sunshine and warm temperatures for hot action on the track never came to full fruition.
Friday evening brought excellent weather for testing, giving riders the opportunity to get in a few passes and fine tune any problems before the big race. Saturday started out with a few clouds which eventually morphed into light showers. Not enough to completely shut down the festivities, but certainly enough to put a damper on the day. By early evening, a torrential downpour came in with a vengeance and shut down the track for the night.

The forecast for Sunday called for early morning clouds with clearing skies by midday, so there was still hope for some great racing. With water continuing to run onto the track from Saturday night’s heavy rains and lingering Sunday morning showers, track officials had no choice but to cancel the races with keeping the riders safety in mind. After all, safety is always paramount so the riders can race another day.

Rest assured, we will be back next year.
