2013 Busa Fest

A busa here, a busa there. Hayabusa’s everywhere for the 2nd annual Busa Fest. Riders rode or trailered bikes from all around to take part in the multi day event at Rockingham Dragway (aka The Rock) in Rockingham, NC.

The midway contained the necessary products to give your ride that “wow” factor courtesy of FTD Custom, Busa Tunes, and Thompson Custom. If your intent was to go “stupid fast”, then Brock’s Performance had you covered. Custom bikes were plentiful thanks to official sponsor Garwood Custom Cycles and Tricked Out Custom Cycles. Suzuki Motor of America also get in the action bringing out their big rig with a variety of rides for patrons to view.

Busa Fest, however, was wasn’t all about viewing. For the ladies, Clutch Girl Crystal Dickerson-Jackson and her crew chief/father Blair Dickerson put on a class to lend some knowledge to those who may be interested in the sport of drag racing. The fellas weren’t left out as Ashon “Capo” Dickerson held a class and dropped some knowledge to introduce and or improve your skills on the track. After days of instruction, a bracket race took place with Pete Hiatt winning the grand prize, a free two day admission to Rickey Gadson’s Drag Racing School.

Although this rapidly growing event centers on the love and appreciation of the Haybusa, BusaFest also welcomed other brands and styles of bikes. Trophies were awarded for best Yamaha, best Kawasaki, best drag racing bike, best cruiser, and more. But the burning question on everyone’s mind was who would roll out victorious with the highly anticipated and coveted “King of Busa Fest” title? With the bikes lined up, the judging began. There were intricate paint designs, sport themed bikes, movie themes, monitors, and then there were those who kept it simple and clean. When the votes were tallied, Q Ortiz from Chicago was crown the King.

Congratulations to all the winners and participants!
